- if you are looking for that perfect Greek island with a balance of beautiful beaches, low-key nightlife, white Cycladic villages, low-impact tourism and maybe the best food in the Cyclades, then look no further than Sifnos, where I have been coming for over thirty years. Just three hours from Athens by Speedrunner vessel or five hours by normal ferry, Sifnos is easy to get to and you may never want to leave. Most people who visit Sifnos return again and many make it a yearly sojourn, while some go as far as to buy houses here and call it home. With easy year round connections to Milos and Serifos, and summer connections to Santorini, Mykonos, Paros and Naxos it is the perfect island to include in your island-hopping itinerary.

Sifnos is a beautiful island located in the western part of the Cyclades. This is a typical sample of Cycladic island, with traditional architecture, calm beaches, seaside taverns and low hills. The most popular beaches are located on the southern side of Sifnos island and have crystal water, soft sand and many tourist facilities. There, you can also visit the fabulous Monastery of Chrissopighi, the protector of the island. Kastro is the most picturesque village in Sifnos Greece, with narrow paved streets, stone houses and great sea view. At the entrance of Kastro, there is the small church of Seven Martyrs, the most photographed chapel of Kastro.

White houses and paved paths mark the architecture of villages on Sifnos. Kastro, Artemonas and Apollonia are the most picturesque settlements, built amphitheatrically along the slopes of a hill and offering great views to the Aegean Sea.
